For all those people who have been wanting to shift to iPhone, perhaps the latest iPhone 13, from an Android phone, but were stopped by the fact that WhatsApp chat transfer was not possible, then here is some good news. WhatsApp users will now be able to move chats to iOS. Yes, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook has revealed that WhatsApp chat history can be transferred from Android to iOS. Informing about the same on Facebook, Zuckerberg said, “We’re adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption. We launched the ability to switch from iPhone–>Android last year, and now adding Android–>iPhone as well.”

It can be noted that last year WhatsApp released a new feature that lets users migrate their chat history from iOS to Android. Also Read: This WhatsApp Privacy feature will keep your chats SAFE! Know the trick

According to a report by WABetaInfo, before starting the process to migrate the chat history, WhatsApp users need to have at least Android 5 installed on their Android device and iOS 15.5 on their iPhone. Here is how you will be able to transfer the WhatsApp chat history between Android and iPhone, as per WABetaInfo:

How to transfer WhatsApp chat history between Android and iPhone:

Step 1:

Connect both of your devices to a power source. Also, connect your devices to the Wi-Fi network.

Step 2:

Your iPhone must be factory new or just reset it right within iPhone settings in order to use the Move to iOS app.

Step 3:

When you’re ready, open the Move to iOS app on your Android device and follow what the app prompts.

Step 4:

Enter the same code on Android that’s displayed on your iPhone, continue and select WhatsApp right within the Transfer Data screen.

Step 5:

We’re ready to start the process to transfer data: tap START on your Android device and hold on until all data is migrated. You will be signed out from your Android device once the data is fully migrated.

Step 6:

Tap NEXT to return to the Move to iOS app. Finally, you can continue to transfer the data from your Android device to your iPhone and wait for the Move to iOS app to complete the process.

Step 7:

After activating your iOS device, install the latest version of WhatsApp Messenger from the App Store: log into WhatsApp by using the same phone number used on your old Android device, tap START and hold on.

Step 8:

After logging into WhatsApp for iPhone, your chats and media on WhatsApp will finally show up.

Step 9:

When you transfer your chat history across different platforms, WhatsApp is not able to see the data you transfer. In addition, you need to manually enable the end-to-end encrypted backup option right within WhatsApp for iPhone if you want, even if you already enabled encrypted backups on WhatsApp for Android.
