When it comes to nourishing her skin, Sobhita Dhulipala’s preference is coconut oil. The star’s minimalism forward choices, amalgamate perfectly with her skin-caring rituals. A mainstay in Indian households, the natural ingredient is a multi-tasking powerhouse. Rich in triglycerides, a type of saturated fat it has myriad of health benefits from anti-microbial effects to deep moisturization of skin and hair. In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Sobhita Dhulipala revealed, “I think ‘less is more’ works better for my skin type. Off late I’ve begun to use a drop of coconut oil on my face as a moisturiser, as it’s my go-to home remedy for skin, hair as well as coconut based things to eat and drink.”

3 ways you can use coconut oil in your DIY skin and hair recipes

Moisturizing hair mask

Hair is made up of protein and if you’re lacking it, hair fall is likely to follow. To nourish your hair back to life, elevate your traditional champi with a few more natural ingredients. Mix 2 tablespoons of organic coconut oil and 1 whisked egg together until blended and apply it evenly on damp hair. If you can identify your problem zones which are dry and flaky, apply more layers on them. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water and shampoo as usual.

If store-bought lip balms and scrubs aren’t doing justice to your dry and peeling lips, then try this naturally sourced lip scrub at home. Mix equal parts, coconut oil, honey and sugar to create a thick liquid paste. Apply on the lips with your forefinger and massage gently to remove dead skin cells. Hydrating properties of honey and coconut oil will preserve moisture while sugar was act as a natural exfoliant and improve blood circulation. Oh, and Kourtney Kardashian swears by this scrub too!
