Other three models – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max will get a mix of suppliers including Samsung Display, LG Display & BOE.
Apple’s upcoming flagship iPhone lineup, the iPhone 14 series has been in rumor since quite a while. One of the biggest rumours surrounding the series is the new display. A few weeks ago it was revealed that Apple could be finally moving away from the massive notch and adopting a punch-hole design. This time, the display rumours revolve around the quality of panels and the suppliers. According to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), there will be just one exclusive supplier for the display of the company’s one of the ‘Pro’ iPhones for 2022 – the rumoured iPhone 14 Pro.

Young’s claim comes via Twitter. On Friday, he posted a poll on Twitter asking users which model will exclusively get OLED screen supply from Apple’s rival in the smartphone world, Samsung. While all four rumored models got the votes, the majority voted for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. In the following thread, Young tweeted that they were indeed wrong and that the iPhone 14 Pro will get OLED screens only from Samsung. He added that the other three models, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max will get a mix of suppliers. These could be the Samsung Display, BOE and LG Display.
iPhone 14 Leak and Survey – Only 1 model will have exclusive panel supply from Samsung Display, at least in 2022. The others will have 2-3 suppliers. Do you know which one?

It has been reported that while Samsung will exclusively supply 6.1-inch LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) OLED panels for iPhone 14 Pro, the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max panel supply will be split between Samsung Display and LG Display. A separate report from ithome website adds that 20 to 25% of orders for the iPhone 14 will be supplied by BOE and iPhone 14 Max’s screen will come from LG and Samsung as well. Apple probably wants LG to make LTPO panels for just one of the ‘Pro’ models since the firm doesn’t have a lot of experience in making LTPO panels and doesn’t have as much capacity as Samsung.

It is worth adding that Samsung was the sole supplier of LTPO panels last year for the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max while LG and BOE supplied panels for the iPhone 13 and 13 mini. The use of LTPO this year also means that the iPhones will get a dynamic refresh rate.
