Alaya F on experimenting with hair colour, skincare staples and DIY recipes

If Alaya F’s first launch Jawaani Jaaneman and her Instagram are anything to go by then we know that the actor loves hair colour. While her character Tia sported light golden highlights in the movie starring Saif Ali Khan and Tabu, in reality Alaya F’s hair color journey has seen more than a few bold colours. From spontaneously dying her hair rose gold to learning the art of managing the locks, the young star has traversed deep into the beauty space. In an exclusive interview with vogue Alaya F talks about everything skincare and hair care.

On the secret behind her lit-from-within glow off camera

The positive energy I surround myself with! I make sure to always have people that are inherently positive and kind around me. It keeps me grounded and happy.

On her skincare routine and staples on the dresser

There is nothing more effective than the simple basics. Drink plenty of water–I can’t stress this enough. I can see an instant drop in my skin quality if I don’t hydrate enough. Also, I make sure I take off my make-up and wash my face regularly with a face wash that suits my skin type. And of course, SPF! I don’t leave my home without applying a moisturizer that has SPF in it! Lip balm and SPF are my staples.

On her haircare rituals

For my hair, I love Kerastase! Whether or not I step out, I make sure to use their Elixir Ultime serum every day. It’s lightweight and a few pumps is all you need to add shine and control the frizz. At night, I use Kérastase’s 8H Magic Night Serum. It’s like an intensive night cream that truly hydrates and nourishes my hair. It’s my relaxing bedtime beauty ritual.

On getting highlights and experimenting with hair colour

I used to be really crazy with my hair colour. I’ve tried every color imaginable and gone through all sorts of hair phases… some good, some bad, but mostly bad. Now I’ve figured out what types of highlights and colors work well on me and how I can color my hair without damaging it or making it dull. So now I’ve started having fun with it again!

On her tips to manage hair color and making it last longer

During my trial and error phase of hair color, I realized that if you want to make your color last longer, it’s important to use proper post-color care. I’m in love with Kérastase’s latest launch – Chroma Absolu. It’s a sulphate free range designed specifically for colored hair and ever since I’ve used it, my hair feels healthier and nourished. The Chroma Absolu Color Gloss is a game-changer, it’s an at home gloss treatment that helps hair color look fresh.
