hello everybody. It’s me, Alexis Goring, your host of the Charlotte Daily — here to impart all the most important things happening in town. Follow along for the latest…

First, today’s weather:

Here are the top five stories in Charlotte today:

  1. There was a shooting in the food court of Eastridge Mall on Friday. Three people were injured. Police are investigating this event. Gastonia Police Department said there was “no active threat” in the food court but warned people to avoid the shopping center for the time being. All three victims were transported to a local hospital. (New York Daily News)
  2. Bishops Cut/Color in Charlotte is entering its fourth year in business serving the Charlotte area. It opened its first location a little over three years ago in Midtown and added a South End location later that year. The team there is known for giving customers a premium hair styling experience at affordable rates. (GlobeNewswire)
  3. Now that school is out for summer vacation, it means many children are riding their bikes and swimming. dr. Amra Zuzoa pediatrician at Novant Health, has tips for parents about how to protect their children without taking away their summer fun. For details, visit novanthealth.org/healthyheadlines. (WCCB Charlotte)
  4. Freecoat nails, located in Charlotte, is helping its customers choose the right products to promote their well-being and protect their health. It offers high-end products that do not contain chemicals and toxic fumes. Freecoat nails has been on a mission ever since learning that most traditional beauty products lead to skin irritation, respiratory problems, and worsening of health. therefore, it chose to eliminate toxins like triclosan, artificial fragrances, formaldehyde, toluene and xylene from its beauty products† (Digital Journal)
  5. Discovery Place Science’s new exhibit, “Unseen Ocean,” encourages visitors to dive deeper into the secrets of the deep blue oceans. It is on display now through Sept. 18. Visitors will be able to explore the underwater world and get inspired to be the next generation of marine life biologists while learning about life under the seas. (WCNC)
